In midst 80s we visited John Emanuel and his partner Janet Axten in their airy studio overlooking Port Minster Beach, St Ives, - such a gentle and friendly couple!
Born in Bury, Lancashire, John settled in St Ives in 1964. He is best known for his nude studies, many of them with Janet as model; the figure and the figure embraced by the landscape is mainly his subject. He works in charcoal, oils, gouache, mixed media and lino-types. His work is widely exhibited in the UK and abroad.
