Joan Gillchrest
1918 - 2008

London-born and trained Joan Gillchrest moved to Cornwall in 1958.

This independent artist's charming, poetic and colourful paintings is part of an ongoing Cornish tradition of naive art.

Joan Gillchrest's artistic fame rose with the growing popularity of the Cornish postwar school-presaged by the "St Ives 1939-64" exhibition at the Tate Gallery in London 1985.
